The Constant Church of God presents clear answers to your questions, directly from the Bible!
So many people numbering into the hundreds, thousands and even millions, believe that we have an immortal soul inside our physical bodies.
They've never challenged it or looked into it or questioned it or wondered about it.
They simply accepted it and continue to believe it.
In the garden of Eden, Satan asks Eve, “Did God really say that if you eat the fruit of that tree, you will surely die?
Well, God lied to you! YOU cannot die! You’re an immortal soul.”
And going on 6,000 years now, mankind has believed the lie that he is an immortal soul in a human body.
That the real YOU is not a body of flesh but an immortal, invisible soul that knows, hears, sees and will live on consciously forever!
This belief of the immortal soul continued with the ancient Egyptians.
The Greek philosopher Socrates adopted it.
But it was his student Plato who became the leading advocate of this belief in the immortality of the soul.
Plato believed death was not death.
He taught that death is merely the separation of the indestructible soul from the human body.
Over time, belief in the immortal soul was able to gain recognition and acceptance by traditional, mainstream religion.
What does the Bible actually say?
You can look it up in any Bible concordance.
But you will not find the words “immortal soul” or “immortality of the soul” anywhere in the entire Bible.
Jesus Christ Himself did not teach any such doctrine.
When that wealthy young man approached Jesus Christ and asked Him, “WHAT must I do to have eternal life?,” why didn’t Christ simply tell him, “Look, young man, you already have eternal life. You’re an immortal soul!”
At sporting events, we see an individual holding up this sign with “John 3:16” written on it.
And when you read that scripture, it says Jesus Christ came to pay the penalty of our sins so that we didn’t have to PERISH! And that we might enter into everlasting life!
Why would we perish, if we already are an immortal soul?
Why did Christ have to die such an agonizing, humiliating death when we already had everlasting life as an immortal soul?
When you put all the scriptures together, you will find the Bible clearly saying the word “soul” cannot mean anything immortal, eternal or possessing life other than temporary and mortal!
God inspired the prophet Ezekiel to explicitly state TWICE to emphasize that the soul that sins, that disobeys the law of God, it shall die!
Don’t believe me. Look it up for yourselves. You can find it in Ezekiel chapter 18, verses 4 and 20.
In the book of Genesis, it says that God created man from the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life. And then man became a living soul!
Does it say God put inside the man an immortal soul?
Not at all!
The Bible says man BECAME a living soul.
That's what we are: a soul.
Meaning, flesh and blood.
Dependent on food, water and air to live.
Ours is a temporary, physical existence!
As in Adam, all die.
And, we will die.
Because we are not nor do we have an immortal soul.
But God promises, in Christ shall all be made alive.
That if you do what God says instead of going your own way, you will be resurrected to immortal, spirit life!
That is the glorious, majestic inheritance that awaits those who change, obey, grow and overcome.
