There is a real devil.

If that is true, where did he come from?

Did God create the devil?

The Bible is the only reliable source of truth.

It is God’s irrefutable words of truth in print!

And the Bible has a lot to say about the existence of the devil.

Don’t take my word for it.

Please open your Bibles, and go back to the very beginning. Turn to Genesis chapter 1 and verse 1.

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

The Hebrew word created implies a PERFECT, WELL-ORDERED creation.

The word “heavens” should be more properly translated as universe.

Now notice what we find in the very next verse.

Verse 2 of Genesis chapter 1.

2 The earth was without FORM, and VOID; and darkness WAS on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

The Hebrew words for “without form and void” describe an earth in chaos and confusion.

A wasteland.

An “undistinguishable ruin.”

But, the Bible says God is not the author of confusion.

When you read the entire passage, the verse also says “the earth WAS without form and void.”

The Hebrew word for WAS is BECAME.

In other words, when God created the earth, He did not create it in chaos and confusion.

It BECAME that way.

In fact, you will find in Job chapter 38 and verse 7, that the angels shouted for joy at the beauty, the splendor, the magnificence of the earth God had created.

Notice Isaiah chapter 45 and verse 18.

18 For thus says the Lord, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain [meaning chaos and confusion], Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the Lord, and there is no other.”

These references show that the earth God created was not originally in a horrible condition of disorder and waste.

The earth BECAME that way AFTER it was created!

What caused it to become that way?

Several references in the Bible — such as, Jeremiah 4; Isaiah 24; Isaiah 34 — conclusively prove the earth became in the wretched conditions of chaos and confusion as a result of SIN!

What sin could have brought about the earth’s wreckage and physical destruction?

It was not because of Adam’s sin because he had not been created yet!

But, a form of life already existed on the earth that brought it into a condition of decay and ruin.

Before God created the physical and material universe, long before Adam, He created angels.

Spirit beings.

One of those angels was a super archangel named Lucifer, which means light-bringer.

The shining one.

The morning star.

Lucifer was the pinnacle, the supreme masterpiece of God's creative power.

Lucifer was at the very throne room of God. Trained in the knowledge and understanding of God’s truth.

He had charisma. Extremely brilliant in mind. Gifted with superior eloquence. With impressive speaking ability.

God also gave him a throne to administer the government of God on the earth.

Notice Ezekiel 28 and verse 15:

15 You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you.

What iniquity? What sin?

Continue in verse 17:

17 “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze at you.

Lucifer was not satisfied with EVERYTHING God had given him.

He wanted more.

He wanted to take over EVERYTHING.

Together with a third of the angels under his authority, Lucifer mounted a rebellion against God to remove Him from His throne in heaven and usurp God’s supremacy over the entire universe.

And so, Lucifer rebelled against God His creator.

Lucifer SINNED!

As a result of his sin, the earth — and the rest of the universe — BECAME desolate and empty.

Ruined and in decay.

So Lucifer — the shining star of the morning, the brilliant light bringer — became Satan the devil, the adversary, the enemy, the destroyer.

And his followers — fallen angels — were now called demons.

Imagine the intelligence, the personality, the leadership ability, that this Lucifer had.

When he turned into Satan, all of those were still there, but only perverted and twisted toward everything evil.

Everything wicked.

Religious scholars, philosophers and other experts — some of the world’s smartest and most highly educated — have attempted to find the cause, the reason, the source of all the misery, the suffering, the strife, the conflict that is in the world today.

But because Satan is an invisible spirit, they simply dismiss his existence.

Far from that cartoonish, comical caricature of a harmless prankster in a red suit carrying a pitchfork or a suave, dapper, smooth-tongued, handsome, lovable scoundrel, he is the mastermind, the instigator behind all of the havoc and mayhem that’s happening.

He has cleverly blinded mankind into believing that he does not exist.

That he is not real at all.

But the Bible reveals Satan DOES exist. And he IS very real!

He is a very powerful, sinister, extremely dangerous adversary.

The chief apostle Peter describes Satan the devil as a ferocious roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Totally and exceedingly evil.

Filled with hatred towards mankind.

And where did he come from?

The Bible reveals God did NOT create a devil.

He created the cherub Lucifer, who was perfect in his ways from the day God created him.

Perfect in beauty, mind, knowledge, intellect, wisdom.

Flawless.

Faultless.

Until iniquity — lawlessness, SIN — was found in him.

Because Lucifer freely made up his own mind to defy God.

To willfully commit SIN against God.

Lucifer became humanity’s most dangerous enemy:

Satan the devil!
