Who Are Gog and Magog?
The Bible says the populous nations of Europe and Asia will oppose the returning Jesus Christ.

The Constant Church of God presents clear answers to your questions, directly from the Bible!
One of the common misconceptions about Christ's return is that the nations of the world will willingly submit to His authority.
Scripture reveals a very different response.
What the Bible does show is that there will be three, future battles involving a powerful Euro-Asian alliance.
The first is recorded in Revelation chapter 16.
Led by the kings of the east, a massive Eurasian coalition of 200 million men — and only Russia, China, India, and Pakistan could assemble a fighting machine of such magnitude — confronts a 10-nation European powerhouse in the plains of Megiddo.
So now, to prevent the total annihilation of mankind, God intervenes and sends Jesus Christ back to the earth.
These opposing forces call for a truce.
They unite for one ultimate purpose: to fight against the returning Jesus Christ.
At the Valley of Jehoshaphat, Jesus Christ and His angelic army, in a massive display of overwhelming power, utterly demolish those armies.

The second incident is recorded in Ezekiel chapter 38.
The prophet Ezekiel reveals a great Eurasian confederacy will be led by “Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech, and Tubal . . .”
Who is this Gog? And who are the nations that make up this Eurasian alliance?
Ezekiel identifies Gog as the chief ruler from the land of Magog who commands a large coalition of nations against the people dwelling peacefully in the land of Israel in the latter days.
Where is this land of Magog?
Many Bible scholars and Jewish historians identify the land of Magog with this huge chunk of land extending out from southern Russia and the Ukraine on the Black Sea, then east towards Central Asia, stretching as far as Mongolia and northern China.
Ezekiel also explicitly says Gog comes from “the far north.”
Where is “the far north”?
The Bible always determines geographic position relative to Jerusalem.
If you look at a map and follow a straight line directly north of Jerusalem, it cuts right past the Black Sea and lands you squarely in that massive northern territory of Russia.
The land of Magog then is what we call Russia today.
Who are Meshech and Tubal?
They are two key members of Gog's coalition.
Throughout the Old Testament, these two are often mentioned together as the sons of Japheth.
Authoritative Bible scholars and secular sources explicitly tie Meshech to Moschoi then to Muscovy from which we get Moscow: the capital city of Russia today.
Tubal, together with his brother Meshech, migrated north into Russia.
While Meshech settled to the west, Tubal moved east to the vast territory we know today as Siberia.
They settled along the Tobol River, where we find the city of Tobolsk, the historic capital of Siberia.
Gog and his allies devise an evil plan against the Israelites.
Whom Jesus Christ has now delivered from captivity, reunited them into one nation and regathered them to their original tribal territories in the land of Palestine.
They are dwelling in unwalled villages, enjoying God’s blessings of peace, security and prosperity.
Gog and his allies sweep down “out of the north” in a gigantic invasion to seize the wealth of the seemingly helpless, defenseless Israelites.
But God intervenes and fights the battle for Israel.
After the fire ends and the smoke clears, Gog's invading force is completely decimated on the mountains of Israel.
The slaughter is massive. Ezekiel says only “a sixth” of their armies survive.
The casualties so staggering it required the Israelites seven months just to bury the dead.
The weaponry of Gog's armies so immense it provided all Israel with a seven-year supply of firewood.
This prophesied invasion of Israel by the Eurasian horde led by Gog is still future.
It occurs AFTER — not BEFORE — the return of Jesus Christ.
The final and decisive battle is in Revelation chapter 20.
This is the third attempt where Gog and Magog — the people, not the territory I mentioned earlier — re-emerge at the end of the millennium. The thousand-year reign of Christ.
Who are these people named Magog?
Ancient historians and many Bible scholars associate Magog with the ancestors of the great Asian peoples of China, Korea, and Manchuria.
In Revelation chapter 20, we read that after a millennium of perfect peace and justice under the direct rule of Jesus at Jerusalem, Satan is released from his prison.
Immediately, he goes out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth. And succeeds in stirring up Gog and Magog. To gather them for one last, desperate battle.
Revelation chapter 20 and verse 7.
7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison
8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.
Satan gathers a worldwide coalition from every corner of the earth.
This is Gog and Magog fully mobilized to launch one final uprising, one last rebellion against God.
They surround and attack the “camp of the saints,” the cities of Israel as well as the “beloved city” — Jerusalem — the headquarters of the government of God!
Verse 9.
9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.
And their army — as numerous as the sand of the sea — is devoured.
Utterly destroyed.
Finally, with ALL opposition stamped out, every man, woman and child who has ever lived will be resurrected back to physical life.
They will have their first and only opportunity to learn God’s truth. And they, too, can receive God’s gift of eternal life in the Family of God.
At last, God’s magnificent purpose is fulfilled; and His grand plan of salvation for all of mankind is complete.
