Did Angels Marry Women?
In Genesis, it says that the sons of God married the daughters of men. Were these sons of God angels?

In the book of Genesis, it says that the sons of God married the daughters of men (Gen. 6:2). Were these sons of God angels?
These scriptures have been misunderstood, and scholars and theologians have misinterpreted what the Bible actually says about this subject.
They have concluded that the sons of God were angels who came down to the earth, married women and their offspring were giants and mighty men of renown (v. 4).
What does the Bible say? Were these sons of God angels?
It’s important to remember that the Bible uses the phrase “sons of God” in various ways. In order to determine which one is the correct biblical interpretation, it is necessary to put all the relevant scriptures together.
The Bible refers to an individual who has received the Holy Spirit of God as a begotten son of God (1 John 3:1).
Because we descended from Adam and Eve, the first humans created by God, we are called the sons of God (Mal. 2:10; Luke 3:38).
Finally, even before Adam and Eve were created, God created angels, and they are referred to as the sons of God (Job 2:1). The morning stars were angels, and they all shouted for joy when they saw the magnificent and stunning beauty of the earth and the material, physical universe God had just made (Job 38:7).
However, the Bible clearly reveals that angels are not God’s sons by begettal and birth. Angels are created beings; they are not born. They are immortal spirit beings, composed totally of spirit not flesh (Heb. 1:5-7, 14).
Even Jesus Christ Himself said that angels cannot marry. Being spirit beings, angels do not marry or are they given in marriage (Luke 20:34-36).
And if you continue reading Genesis chapter 6, the context makes it very plain and straightforward that these sons of God were physical human beings and not angels.
God Himself says that after 120 years “My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh… I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth” (Gen. 6:3, 7).
Man is made of flesh and he can be destroyed. He can die. Angels, however, are immortal spirits. They cannot be destroyed and neither can they die.
From the very beginning, God set in motion laws that ensure each kind reproduces only after its own kind (Gen. 1:24). This is also one of the most fundamental, thoroughly established laws of science, thus making it impossible for human beings to reproduce with angels.
Therefore, based on what God says in His Bible, the “sons of God” mentioned here are flesh and blood men who married the daughters of men.
Who were the giants mentioned in Gen. 6:4? Since they were not the offspring of angels marrying women, where did they come from? Did they even exist?
Most paleontologists, anthropologists and geologists claim they have found no evidence of any giants on the earth—at least giants who were human.
The fossils they unearthed were supposedly of ape-like, sub-human creatures who appear to be giants.
But upon careful review, several of these scientists have discovered tangible, indisputable evidence that there were indeed huge, powerful giants on the earth.
And they were human, not sub-human or ape-like at all.
The paleontologist Gustav von Koenigswald discovered a fossil of an enormous jaw in Java, Indonesia in 1941. That specimen was later verified as human whom he called “this giant man of old Java” (Herman Hoeh, “Scientists Discover There WERE Giants on Earth in those Days.” The Plain Truth, February 1956, p. 4).
Based on careful calculations, the Java giant stood about “8 feet tall and weighed approximately 400-600 pounds” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meganthropus).
Koenigswald’s colleague was an anthropologist named Franz Weidenreich who had previously discovered the teeth of a giant in China.
And when he compared both specimens, Weidenreich calculated that the Peking giant was “one-and-a-half times as large as the Java giant, and twice as large as a male gorilla” (Franz Weidenreich, Apes, Giants, and Man, University of Chicago Press, 1946).
There were giants on the earth after all, just as God said there were. And they were human.
So where did these giants come from?
Genesis 6:4 says “There were giants in the earth in those days” which means these giants were already on the earth before the flood occurred. So they must have descended from the first man Adam and his wife Eve (Gen. 2:7; 3:20).
There is also ample archaeological evidence that these giants were then wiped out at the time of Noah’s flood, together with all man and beast (Ruth Moore, Man, Time and Fossils. Alfred A. Knopf, 1953).
But Genesis 6:4 also says “and also after that” which means there were also giants after the flood.
There are numerous giants mentioned in the Bible after the flood of Noah’s day.
The 12 scouts dispatched by Moses to explore the land of Canaan saw giants, the sons of Anak, who towered over them (Num. 13:33).
Og, king of Bashan, had a bed that measured over 13 feet long and 6 feet wide (Deut. 3:11).
The Philistine champion Goliath was a giant standing almost 10 feet tall (1 Sam. 17:4).
And there are several others such as the Emims (Deut. 2:10) and the Zamzummims (Deut. 2:20).
What about the mighty men of old, men of renown? They were the children of men and women, not the offspring of angels falsely claimed to have married the daughters of men.
Anthropologist William White Howells discovered evidence that, because of their extraordinary ability, these mighty men were the acknowledged leaders of their day, exercising authority over large populations at that time.
They were also builders, constructing temples and palaces which also served as learning centers for mathematics and writing (William White Howells, Mankind So Far. Doubleday & Co., 1944)
When you gather all the pertinent scriptures of the Bible and combine them with the verifiable scientific evidence, the misunderstanding of Genesis chapter 6 can be clarified.
Scientific evidence substantiates and corroborates what the Bible says: the sons of God were humans, not angels who married the daughters of men.
The Bible is undeniably God’s words in print, not a book of myths and fables conjured up by men. It is perfect and consistent, without any faults or flaws.
