Ten Commandments = Law of Moses?
Are the Ten Commandments the same as the law of Moses?

Transcript:
The Constant Church of God presents clear answers to your questions, directly from the Bible!
Many in professing Christianity today believe that God’s Ten Commandments and the law of Moses are one and the same.
Nothing could be further from the truth!
The Ten Commandments is the basic, fundamental law that regulates man’s relationship with his Creator and with his fellow human beings.
As Supreme Lawmaker and Lawgiver, only God could write such a law that is eternal, withstands the test of time and never becomes out of date and obsolete.
Furthermore, God’s Ten Commandments define sin.
Without law, there can be no sin.
Sin is the transgression — the breaking or violation — of God’s law.
Moreover, the Bible proves that EVERY ONE of God’s commandments were already in existence at the Garden of Eden.
It was that law — the 10 Commandments — God taught to Adam and Eve.
And they disobeyed what God had taught and commanded them.
Their first son Cain broke that law, when he murdered his brother Abel.
He also violated the 9th commandment when he lied to cover it up.
So then the law — God’s law — was already active long before Moses was born.
Long before Moses delivered the Israelites from Egyptian slavery and brought them to Sinai.
God did not give the Israelites a new code of ethics and morality.
He did not provide them with a new law.
At Sinai, He re-stated His law — written with His own finger upon two stone tablets — which ensures peace, happiness and well-being for every human being.
In addition, God set in motion an entire system of laws based on the 10 Commandments.
Laws that Israel had forgotten; laws that they had lost knowledge of during their 430 years in pagan, godless Egypt.
And these laws were separate from but based on and complementary to the Ten Commandments.
They are what the Bible calls the statutes and judgments.
And God commanded Moses to write them in a book.
The book of the law which was then placed by the side of the ark of the covenant
A system of laws based on the Ten Commandments to govern His creation.
Even before Israel arrived in Sinai.
The statutes and judgments are extensions, if you will, of the 10 Commandments, that magnify them and show how the 10 Commandments apply in practical everyday life.
These statutes and judgments are what God commands us to keep today in both the letter AND the spirit or intent of the law.
However, the Israelites were stubborn and defiant.
Not long after they promised to obey God, they broke God’s law by worshipping the golden calf that Aaron had made.
As a result, God also gave them the ceremonial ordinances of animal sacrifices and various ritualistic washings to teach them to acknowledge their sins and to direct them in the way of obedience.
This law of physical works IS the law of Moses, which taught ancient Israel their need for a coming Savior and the help of God’s Holy Spirit.
Those sacrifices and rituals are no longer REQUIRED for us today.
They were mere substitutes that pointed to the supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
The ONLY sacrifice that could take away the penalty of sin!
He became the sacrifice that replaces all sacrifices!
And so, you will not find any scripture in the entire Bible — from Genesis all the way to Revelation — that says Christ abolished God’s Ten Commandments.
What you will find are CLEAR, PLAIN and STRAIGHTFORWARD statements like this one from Christ Himself in Matthew chapter 5 and verse 17.
17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
Jesus Christ actually magnified that law.
Elevated it to the spiritual level.
And, just as He did, true Christians today — true followers of Jesus Christ — must keep them not only in the letter but more so in the spirit or the intent.
God’s law — His Ten Commandments — remain in full force and effect today!
Those sacrificial ceremonies and rituals of the law of Moses, they have been done away.

Open your Bibles and prove it for yourselves.
You will be surprised — maybe even shocked — to find out that the Bible actually says the law of Moses is NOT the same as the Ten Commandments of God.
