Is the Holy Spirit a Person?
Is the Holy Spirit a person just like God the Father and Jesus Christ?

Transcript:
The Constant Church of God presents clear answers to your questions, directly from the Bible!
Is it true that the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit are three equal but separate and divine persons?
Those who claim the Holy Spirit is a person like the Father and the Son point to an epistle or a letter of the apostle John saying, there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. And these three are one.
It would seem that this letter of John is solid evidence of their claim.
However, most theologians and religious scholars say the words. . .“in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy [Spirit]: and these three are one . . .” were never in the original Greek manuscripts.
Other versions of the Bible —— like the Revised Standard and the New International —— omit these words.
What does the Bible say?
In the book of Acts, it says we are to receive the Holy Spirit as a gift poured out from God (Acts 10:45).
Poured as you would water from a pitcher or a bowl (Revelation 16:1).
Can you pour out a person?
Paul exhorted the Thessalonians not to quench the Holy Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19).
The Holy Spirit can be quenched when we neglect or are careless with our spiritual responsibilities.
But how would you quench a person?
The young evangelist Timothy was instructed to stir up the Holy Spirit in him (2 Timothy 1:6).
If the Holy Spirit were a person, how can you stir up a person in you?
In the New Testament account regarding the birth of Jesus, the angel Gabriel appears to Mary and tells her that she is pregnant with a holy baby in her womb.
Mary is astonished with disbelief.
“How can this be?” Mary replies, “ for I have not had any intimate relations with a man.”
The angel tells her that she has been overshadowed or impregnated with child by the power of God (Luke 1:35)!
If the Holy Spirit were a person, he would be Christ’s father instead of God the Father.
These are indisputable proofs directly from the Bible that the Holy Spirit is NOT a person!
Rather, the Holy Spirit is the very power that God uses to carry out His purpose and His will.
