An angel appears before the prophet Daniel with a message from God.

That message is in Daniel chapter 12 and verse 4.

4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.

Prophetic visions of the end time were given to Daniel, and he wanted to know what they all meant.

However, the angel told him in verse 9, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.

But, notice the latter part of verse 4, “and knowledge shall be increased”.

This prophecy is unfolding right before our very eyes today!

The time we are in now — the time of the end prophesied in Daniel — is a time of increased and rapidly increasing knowledge!!!

Right before our eyes, we are going through and experiencing a knowledge explosion!

According to researchers, the amount of knowledge is MONSTROUS.

There is a lot of it; and, it is growing at a rapid rate.

Technology has spawned a phenomenal increase in knowledge today!

What does the Bible say?

What does God think, what does God say about this increase in knowledge?

Don’t believe me! Open your Bibles and see for yourselves.

Turn to Hosea chapter 4 and verse 1.

1 Hear the word of the Lord, you children of Israel, for the Lord brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land” (NKJ).

We have ALL of this knowledge, BUT there is NO knowledge of God in the land!

Bible sales are up 22 percent in the United States in October 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

However, according to a Gallup poll, those identifying as Christians hit a low of 68 per cent last year, down from 87 per cent in 1973.

Over that 50-year period, most of the change in America’s religious beliefs is a result of a shift from the Christian religions to NO religion at all!

A religious research center based in Arizona discovered that Americans are embracing syncretism — the fusion of religious beliefs — and the rejection of the doctrines and teachings of the Bible.

According to the 2024 State of the Bible annual report commissioned by the American Bible Society, “Scripture engagement among American adults is at its lowest point in the 14 years” since the organization has been asking Americans their opinions and beliefs regarding the Bible.

HOW did this happen?

The Bible says Satan the devil — a LIAR and the father of lies — has deceived the WHOLE world!

It is this Satan who has misled mankind into following falsehood and error through clever yet distorted reasoning.

And so, while knowledge has increased, so also have society’s troubles and problems!

Despite all of this knowledge, all of these enormous chunks of facts and information, man has failed at solving the really major problems that plague individuals and nations today: mental illness; marital breakups; drug addiction; war. . .I could go on and on!

What a paradox!

So, what’s missing?

God tells us what’s missing right here in 2nd Timothy chapter 3 and verse 7.

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

That’s what’s missing!

The knowledge of the truth.

Not the “personal truth” of man, but the revealed truth of God.

Let’s take a look at a few examples.

The truth about WHO and WHAT God is.

The Bible says, God is Creator.

The physical universe — the solar systems and galaxies out there — did not just happen.

It did not randomly occur, by some unexplainable SOMEHOW!

God made the heavens — the entire universe — and the earth (Genesis 1:1).

Another example is the truth about WHO and WHAT man is.

Humans did not evolve from some crude and primitive life-form.

And then, by some unexplained phenomena, over millions of years, multiplied into additional cells which then grew, developed, changed and progressed into an entirely different species.

With more complex physical form and advancing intellectual ability.

The undeniable truth backed up by the Bible is that humans were created by God from the dust of the ground and fashioned into HIS own image and likeness.

Not from some lower-life form like the anthropoid ape.

Another truth is that God is a FAMILY. Not a trinity!

And God intends ALL of mankind to become part of HIS divine Family!

Next example.

The truth that God’s Ten Commandments have not been done away.

Jesus Christ did not abolish God’s law.

He magnified it.

He fulfilled it.

They are in full force and effect TODAY!

And breaking God’s law is SIN.

And the wages of sin is DEATH.

Not eternal life in an ever-burning hellfire.

There’s a lot more, but a final truth we will cover is that Christ came to the earth as a Messenger from God His Father.

And that message He brought was the true gospel, the good news of the soon-coming Kingdom of God.

Not a message ABOUT Himself.

The plain, clear and straightforward truth of the Bible shows us the way to peace.

But the world does not have any knowledge of the way that produces peace.

The truth is the way to happiness; but the world seeks happiness in all the wrong places with all the wrong ways.

They do not know the way to lasting happiness.

The truth liberates us from fear and worry, from boredom and emptiness, from dissatisfaction and discontentment.

Unfortunately, the world does not have the knowledge of the way that truly sets them free.

The all-important knowledge is NOT being taught.

There are so many erroneous assumptions, untrue ideas that are being pumped into the minds of many!

There is no teaching that enables mankind to discern the TRUE VALUES from the FALSE.

They lack the knowledge of the purpose of life; WHY humans were placed on this earth; and, GOD’S GRAND PLAN being worked out here on this very earth!

A deceived and blinded mankind has rejected the foundation of all true knowledge: the Holy Bible.

The knowledge of WHAT man is; of WHY man is; of WHAT the true values are; of the WAY to peace, happiness, abundant well-being; and ultimately, eternal life!

A loving, caring God, Who seeks only the well-being and fulfillment of His creation, did not leave it up to us to figure out all of these things for ourselves.

He provides us with HIS Instruction Manual containing the critical, essential knowledge of His spiritual truths that can be acquired from no other source.

In the pages of the Bible, God’s words in print, He shows us the right way to live!

And HOW man can acquire this revealed, spiritual knowledge which is the ONLY right and true knowledge.

HOW man can comprehend a proper relationship with his Creator, with his fellow man, his spouse, his children.

Science does not know it.

Education does not teach it.

Religion does not preach it.

That essential spiritual knowledge, that vital spiritual understanding comes only through a close, personal and abiding relationship with God.

The prophet Daniel was told by God’s angel to record that at the time of the end many shall run to and fro, AND KNOWLEDGE SHALL BE INCREASED.

But God also said this in Daniel chapter 12 and verse 10:
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

The wise are those who fear God, stand in reverent awe of God, wholeheartedly surrender to God, obey Him and keep HIS truth.

When we get down on our knees and pray fervently to God, when we earnestly and wholeheartedly seek Him by diligently studying what He is teaching directly from the Bible, when we rightly discern the word of truth and live our lives by that truth, we are saturating our minds with the knowledge of God.

We fill our minds with the knowledge of the excellency of Jesus Christ!

That is the true knowledge that leads to eternal life!
