What Is the Millennium?

Will the world experience a thousand years — a millennium — of peace and happiness after Christ’s return?

Transcript:

The Constant Church of God presents clear answers to your questions, directly from the Bible!

Traditional, mainstream Christianity claims that belief in the millennium — a thousand years of abundance, prosperity and peace — is simply too good to be true.

Will there be a literal reign of Christ on earth for a thousand years?

What does the Bible say?

The word millennium is derived from the Latin word meaning “a thousand years.”

Instead of finding the word “millennium” in the Bible, you will read of the “thousand years.”

Here is what the Bible says about the millennium.

Open your Bible and turn to Revelation chapter 20 and verse 1.

1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

The Apostle John has this vision of Satan locked up in a bottomless prison for a thousand years!

He is going to be put away and shut up.

No longer able to deceive the nations during the millennium.

Notice verse 6.

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Those who will be in the first resurrection shall reign with and under Jesus Christ the King of kings for a thousand years.

The thousand years — the millennium — is mentioned repeatedly in these passages of scripture!

When will the millennium occur?

The Bible tells us in Revelation chapter 11.

Notice verse 15.

15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

When the seventh trumpet is sounded, Jesus Christ returns to establish the Kingdom of God and restore the government of God as King of kings and Lord of lords over the entire earth!!!

He takes over ALL of this world’s kingdoms and governments and nations!!

The millennium then begins after His return!

Where will the millennium be spent?

Zechariah 14 tells us EXACTLY where the millennium will be spent.

Notice verse 4.

4 And his feet, Christ’s feet, shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

And then verse 9.

9 And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

After Jesus Christ crushes all military opposition — the armies of the eastern nations and the European forces — He is going to be King OVER ALL THE EARTH!

That is what the Bible tells us in a plain, straightforward manner.

The millennium will be spent right here on the earth.

What will the millennium be like?

Life in the millennium will be filled only with the good things mankind has always sought after.

Look at Isaiah chapter 25 and verse 7.

7 And he, referring to Jesus Christ, will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

No more religious confusion.

In the millennium, God’s truth will prevail.

People’s eyes will be opened to the truth of the Bible. Their minds receptive to God’s teaching and obedient to His laws.

And the result will be . . . verse 8 of Isaiah chapter 25.

8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.

No more misery, suffering and death.

No more pain, grief and heartache.

Strife and conflict. . . GONE!

Only lasting peace, real happiness and overflowing prosperity!

This is what the Bible teaches the millennium is.

When it will occur.

Where it will be.

And what it will be like.

There will be nothing like it.

This is the message of the gospel Jesus Christ preached: the good news of the Kingdom of God.

Established . . . FOREVER . . . right here on this earth.

It’s coming!

A lot sooner than we expect!

It won’t be long now!
